Nathan Jones cut an impassioned interview after his side's goalless draw with QPR

Nathan Jones cut a very frustrated figure after Charlton Athletic's 0-0 draw with QPR on Wednesday night, claiming that the linesman "looked at me as if I'd just volleyed his cat" following a disallowed goal for offside.

Neither Charlton nor QPR were able to get back to winning ways after suffering their first league defeat of the campaign last weekend, as the two sides played out a goalless draw at The Valley.

However, despite conceding the lion's share of the possession and losing the shot count, the Addicks will feel the most aggrieved of the two sides, as Tyreece Campbell was denied his fourth league goal of the campaign by the offside flag.

Only the replays showed after the decision was given that, while tight, the 22-year-old could have been just in line with the defence.

Following the game, Jones spoke to Sky Sports and let his feelings known about the decision that, in his view, cost his side three points.

The passionate Welsh boss wasn't happy with a few decisions that the linesman made throughout the game, but was especially aggrieved with his reaction to his protests following Campbell's disallowed goal.

"He was giving offside willy-nilly. We had one in the second half, and the goal is a great goal, it's a great counterattack, it's onside, and it's cost us three points," Jones said.

"And the arrogance of the linesman, it's mental, because he's looking at me as if I've just volleyed his cat. He's looking at me as if I've done something, and he's going, 'nah.'

"But he's made the biggest error of the night, and he's cost us the game."

Charlton moved up into fifth with the point, but a return to winning ways would have seen Nathan Jones' side move into the top two, level on points with new leaders West Brom.

Jones' comments have gained traction across various EFL fanbases. It's arguably one of the more iconic interviews he's given, and perhaps the most impassioned manager interview since the Ian Holloway one after he found out captain Ollie Clarke was suspended last season.

Meanwhile, Charlton supporters, aside from finding the hilarity of the interview, do agree with him and feel aggrieved by the decision, too.

"He's not wrong. QPR kept the ball better and had the majority of possession, but that's irrelevant when big decisions are made. The "offside goal" was a shocking Sunday league decision," one Addicks fan replied.

Despite the Addicks' fast start out of the blocks, they'll still have the main goal of remaining in the Championship at the end of the season, and every point will matter.

Therefore, it's understandable as to why Nathan Jones feels so disappointed with the decision. In his mind, two points could be valuable come the end of the campaign.

With no VAR in the second tier, clubs are at the mercy of live, split-second decisions by the officials. In Charlton's situation, they'll hope they can get on the end of some favourable decisions themselves as the year goes on.

The relentless schedule doesn't stop for the Addicks, as they're back in action against Portsmouth on Saturday.
