Blackburn Rovers host Bristol City tomorrow night, with new Rovers manager Michael O’Neill looking to extend his winning start to life in Lancashire to three games.

Meanwhile, Robins manager Gerhard Struber is hoping his side will get back to winning ways after falling to 12th place in the Championship table following their 1-0 loss to Swansea on Saturday afternoon.

City now find themselves four points adrift of the play-offs, having been in a top six spot for the majority of the season until recent weeks.

Rovers find themselves battling at the other end of the table, with their recent results moving them out of the relegation zone as they now sit five points clear of the drop.

Sheffield Wednesday were relegated in Sunday’s Steel City Derby, meaning there are now only two more places to avoid, which are currently occupied by Oxford United and Leicester City.

O’Neill has so far batted away Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End in his first two games in charge of The Riversiders. With the win over Preston coming in the final moments, thanks to a header from Yuki Ohashi, sending the Ewood Park crowd into chaos as Rovers completed an East Lancashire Derby double over their bitter rivals.

Bristol City don’t have the best record on visits to Blackburn in recent times, with their last win there coming in September 2023, a five-goal thriller in which Nahki Wells netted a second-half winner. Since that day, The Robins have lost both visits to Ewood Park, only scoring once in the process.

Tomorrow night will be the 58th meeting between these two sides, with the side from the South-West coming out victorious in 24 of them so far, whilst Blackburn have only picked up 19 wins. The first game came in 1906 when City picked up a 3-0 win at Ashton Gate.

Blackburn won the reverse fixture 1-0 earlier this season, as they picked up a vital three points on the road.

Two players who could prove crucial in deciding tomorrow’s game are Andri Gudjohnsen for the hosts, who has found the net seven times so far this campaign. As well as new Bristol City signing Tomi Horvat, who has registered two assists from his first three appearances for The Reds.

The game will take place on Tuesday, February 24th, and kick-off is scheduled for 7:45pm (UK time).
