Leeds United have sold defender Isaac Schmidt to BSC Young Boys on a four-year deal, ending his two-year spell at Elland Road on Thursday. The Swiss full-back signed off with a farewell message, calling his time with the club 'pure emotions'.
The fee was undisclosed, though yorkshireevenpost.co.uk understands Leeds received £2million, enough to avoid any book value loss.
Schmidt made 14 appearances in the 2024/25 Championship title-winning season, including two FA Cup starts, with all 12 league outings from the bench. He was at Elland Road when automatic promotion was sealed and joined Farke's squad for the open-top bus parade through the city centre.
With Premier League minutes looking unlikely, he left on loan to Werder Bremen last summer. Messages of support followed his farewell, including from Anton Stach and Joel Piroe, while Largie Ramazani and Willy Gnonto also sent their best.
Illan Meslier and Mateo Joseph added their names, with likes from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Harry Gray. Schmidt will now link up with Young Boys for pre-season.
His departure was Leeds' fourth of the summer, after free agents Karl Darlow and Meslier, plus Pascal Struijk's £20m move to Brighton. One arrival, Harry Wilson, has been confirmed, and centre-back Tarik Muharemovic is expected to follow.
