Real Madrid are overseeing some major changes to the squad with new manager Jose Mourinho taking charge of transfers this summer.

Four signings have already been secured and more are expected to be on the way, but Los Blancos need to offload some of their current players in order to make room for them.

Raul Asencio, in that regard, has emerged as a candidate to be sold, with Mourinho giving the green light for the La Fabrica graduate’s departure.

Loan move with a mandatory buy option

Now, according to Miguel Serrano, Real Madrid are considering the option of loaning Asencio out with a mandatory buy clause inserted this summer.

While Los Blancos would have ideally preferred a permanent outright sale, the lack of offers for the 23-year-old academy graduate has led to them changing their stance.

Now, the Spanish capital club would be open to a loan exit for the centre-back as long as the deal includes a mandatory purchase option for the end of the season.

Asencio reluctant to leave

However, as previously reported, Asencio has no intention of leaving Real Madrid, making things difficult for the club.

Asencio’s contract with Real Madrid runs until 2031, with the defender also getting a salary hike following his first-team breakthrough.

The 23-year-old defender has been working hard during the off-season as he remains committed to convincing Mourinho during pre-season.

Exit the best option

But, the Portuguese tactician remains keen on signing another centre-back this summer after having already roped in Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer following his contract expiry at Liverpool.

With Antonio Rudiger renewing his contract, Dean Huijsen at the club, and Eder Militao expected to be a part of the manager’s plans once he returns from his injury, there appears to be no place for Asencio.

Given the situation, an exit in the summer seems like the best possible situation for both the player and the club.

But with no firm interest in the market so far over a permanent transfer, Real Madrid are prepared to explore other formulas in order to offload the Spaniard.
