Reims and Montpellier win, Rodez’s 350-day home run ends in Ligue 2 | OneFootball

Reims and Montpellier both won on Friday to tighten the top of Ligue 2, while Rodez’s 350-day home invincibility fell to Grenoble. The pair now sit on the podium and meet next week.

According to L'Équipe, in their second straight Ligue 2 season Reims look well equipped for the climb.

Nicolas Usaï’s side extended their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win at Nancy, thanks to Yaya Fofana and a superb strike from Chemsdine Kouranfal. Nancy scored through Nordine Kandil after a John Otomewo turnover.

At La Mosson, left-back Théo Sainte-Luce finished a flowing move, meeting a Florian Tardieu cross to see off Pau. Montpellier climbed to third and the Saint-Étienne defeat already looks parked.

At Paul-Lignon, Rodez were beaten 1-0 by Grenoble, Mattheo Xantippe slipping the ball through goalkeeper Lucas Margueron’s legs. It was their first home defeat since 26 September 2025, after a run of eight wins and six draws. They also had a strong unbeaten spell between November 2025 and last month, but have now lost three of the last five.

Last season’s play-off participants look a little less sure of themselves for now. Further down, Clermont, Boulogne-sur-Mer and Dijon were winless before matchday six, with Laval second-bottom. The Burgundians made the most of it, beating Laval 3-2 after an entertaining contest at Gaston-Gérard.
