Santos confirm sale of Adonis Frías to Atlas as defender says goodbye | OneFootball

Santos have sold centre-back Adonis Frías to Atlas in Mexico for $3.7 million, roughly R$ 20 million. The Brazilian club retain 20% of any future sale, and the fee could rise to $4.5 million with bonuses.

Frías posted a farewell message, thanking staff, team-mates and supporters, saying he tried to give everything and cherished wearing the shirt. He reflected on qualifying for an international competition, winning derbies and the ups and downs of his performances.

Before Atlas stepped in, Racing had tabled a loan proposal that would have sent right-back Gastón Martirena to Santos. The deal was advanced, but the Mexican side presented a permanent offer and a higher salary, alongside a project that suited Frías, who has previously played in the country.

Recently he apologised to fans after an early error in the 4-2 win over UCV of Venezuela on 28 July at Vila Belmiro. He started that Copa Sudamericana play-off second leg but was withdrawn at half-time after his misplaced pass led to the opener inside 25 seconds.

This year he has scored two goals in 24 appearances. He played seven times in the Paulistão, nine in the Brasileiro and scored against Bragantino, three in the Copa do Brasil with a goal versus Coritiba, and five in the Sudamericana.

Signed in September last year, he also made 13 league outings in 2025 and was under contract until December 2028. Born in Florencio Varela, Argentina, the 28-year-old won the Copa Sudamericana in 2020 and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2021 with Defensa y Justicia, also featuring for Los Andes and León.
