Santos look to clinch a Copa Sudamericana quarter-final place when they visit Macará on Thursday, after a 2-1 first-leg win at Vila Belmiro. A draw in Ambato would be enough for Cuca’s side. Kick-off is 19:00 at Estadio Bella Vista.
According to Diario Do Peixe, advancing past the Ecuadorian club would bring 700,000 dollars in prize money, around R$ 3.6 million.
So far the club have banked 1,525,000 dollars from the competition. They received 300,000 dollars for the group stage and 125,000 dollars for each group win, with their sole victory coming against Deportivo Cuenca.
Progression to the play-off was worth 500,000 dollars, then reaching the last 16 added a further 600,000 dollars.
The tournament pays 700,000 dollars for the quarter-finals and 800,000 dollars for the semi-finals, then 2.5 million dollars to the runners-up and 10 million dollars to the champions.
