The Owls have endured a torrid time under Dejphon Chansiri's ownership, but with David Storch now in charge, the outlook is much more positive at Hillsborough.

Away from South Yorkshire, former Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has been in the headlines as he appears to be closing in on a move to his homeland with RB Salzburg.

If he is to complete a switch to the Austrian club, then he will surely look to bring some familiar faces with him, but could he be reunited with his former assistant?

Could Danny Rohl pinch Henrik Pedersen from Sheffield Wednesday?

After Rohl departed Hillsborough, his assistant Pedersen took charge of Sheffield Wednesday, but he has been unable to make an impact due to the turmoil off the pitch.

The Austrian eventually took the reins at Rangers, succeeding the woeful Russell Martin, turning the Glasgow outfit into a genuine title threat before falling away in the final weeks of the season.

Despite only being at Ibrox for eight months, the Austrian has reportedly agreed a deal with RB Salzburg to become their new boss, while Hearts' Derek McIness is expected to replace him.

When asked if he had any fears that Rohl could come back to his former club and try to take Pedersen as assistant manager, FLW's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick McKenna was confident that he would remain in South Yorkshire.

"With Danny Rohl moving on to Red Bull Salzburg, I don't think there is a chance he will come in for Henrik Pedersen," he told Football League World.

"If you look back to the events of last summer when Danny did leave, came back and left again and Henrik stayed, I think that has soured the relationship between them.

"It seems Pedersen was a bit annoyed that Rohl came back to take the managerial role he thought he had been given, only for Danny to leave again.

"So while they previously worked well when Danny Rohl was in charge at Wednesday, Henrik Pedersen then took over the role. It is his now; it has been guaranteed to him by the new owners, so I think he's going to want to take that chance to manage Sheffield Wednesday in normal circumstances and show what he can do.

"I don't think you have any inclination to leave Sheffield Wednesday. I just know now that Henrik is going to be leading the team into the new season, and it's just time for all Wednesday fans to get behind him, and he's certainly not going to be leaving to work for Danny Rohl."

Why Pedersen would be wise to stay at Hillsborough

Linking up with his former boss may be tempting for Pedersen, but the reality is that he has the chance to rebuild one of England's greatest football clubs, and that is something he surely cannot pass up.

Given what transpired at Wednesday last season, the 48-year-old is still unproven as a manager, and if he wants to cement himself as the main man, then leaving now would take away any opportunity to do that.

The Owls are now in a much better space under Storch, and with the club stable, the Dane has the chance to build his own side and brand of football in South Yorkshire.

With the club heading to League One, expectations will be much higher, but if Sheffield Wednesday get their summer recruitment right, then they really should be challenging for promotion.

On the flip side, RB Salzburg are one of the giants of Austrian football, and with Rohl at the helm, they will be expected to challenge for the title and qualify for the Champions League.

However, for a man who lived in the shadows of Rohl for so long, it would be a surprise if he were to leave his role as main man and support his former boss once again.
