UEFA opens case after OL v Fenerbahçe Champions League play-off incidents

UEFA confirmed on Friday morning that it has opened a disciplinary case following disorder after Fenerbahçe sealed qualification at OL in Wednesday’s Champions League play-off second leg.

Fenerbahçe won 2-1 away at OL, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

An inspector has been appointed to examine responsibility. Matteo Guendouzi was at the heart of the incidents and could face a ban of between one and three matches.

Charges have already been brought against OL for the throwing of pyrotechnics and objects, and for disorder in the stands. Fenerbahçe face the same charges.

An additional investigation will look into incidents involving players and staff from both clubs after the match.
