Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto says he is eager to get back on the pitch after recovering from a right thigh injury.

"I am very anxious. It has been two difficult months for the club, and being out, seeing everything happening on the pitch and not being able to help my team-mates, that is very hard," he said in an interview with Legacy Colecionáveis on Instagram. "I did my first session with the group very well, with no pain at all, the injury fully healed."

Out since 30 July when he was injured against Athletico, the centre-forward is expected to return against Internacional on 7 October at 19:30 at Beira-Rio in the Brasileirão.

He had begun a physical transition aiming to be back for the clássico with Santos on 30 August, but his treatment regressed after a partial rupture of the scar tissue from the healing process.

After a spell back with the medical department, he resumed his transition when Corinthians returned to training and is currently taking part in partial sessions with the squad.

In his absence, the team’s form collapsed, with six straight league defeats and exits from the Copa do Brasil and the Conmebol Libertadores.
