Getafe have opened talks to sign Flamengo left-back Matías Viña on a one-year loan with an option to buy. According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo are willing to negotiate.

River Plate have removed the Uruguayan from their first-team plans for the remainder of the season.

The agreement between Flamengo and River Plate included an obligation to buy for five million dollars (R$ 27 million) if Viña played at least 50% of matches. To avoid meeting that mark, the Argentine club tried to send him back.

Flamengo said they would only accept a return if the contractual penalty was paid, so River Plate left Viña out and he is training separately.

Olympiacos are also monitoring his situation, and there is an expectation he could move during this transfer window.

Flamengo paid around R$ 43 million to sign Viña from Roma at the start of 2024, on a contract running to the end of 2028. He suffered a serious knee injury in August of that year, missed 10 months and lost his place. He has 32 appearances for Flamengo, with one goal and two assists, and has won a Brasileiro, a Copa do Brasil, a Libertadores, a Supercopa do Brasil and a Carioca.
