Kieran Trippier to leave Newcastle when contract expires this summer

Newcastle said in a statement on Saturday that right-back Kieran Trippier, 35, will not renew his contract at the end of the season and will leave in June.

He departs after four and a half years with the Premier League club. The former Tottenham player, 2015-2019, and Atlético de Madrid, 2019-2022, played a key role in last season’s League Cup campaign, which delivered the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years.

In the statement, Trippier said Newcastle had felt most like home, described the moment as emotional, and called winning a trophy with the club the best of his career.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said the defender set standards from his arrival that changed the club’s trajectory.

He is a former England right-back.
