Leeds United’s Gabi Gudmundsson missed Sweden training through illness in the build-up to the World Cup.
According to The Sweden Herald, the defender stayed at the team hotel with mild symptoms and did not take part in Tuesday’s session in Dallas, press officer Petra Thorén told reporters. The other 25 players in the squad were due to train.
Gudmundsson joined Leeds for £10m from Lille last summer and his performances earned a call-up to Graham Potter’s Sweden for this summer’s tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
A hamstring injury curtailed his Premier League season, yet he was still selected and returned to action with 64 minutes in last week’s final pre-World Cup friendly against Greece.
Sweden begin their Group F campaign against Tunisia in Monterrey early Monday morning, Swedish time.
