Liverpool are once again circling Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, with journalist Santi Aouna assuring that the Brazilian is being seen as Liverpool’s ‘Plan C’, a fallback option behind Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

At this stage, the Reds are prioritising a deal for Isak. The Swedish striker is reportedly open to the move, and there is confidence from the Liverpool camp that an agreement can be reached with Newcastle United.

Should that pursuit fall through, the Merseyside club will turn their attention to Barcola. PSG are currently trying to tie the 22-year-old down to a new deal, which complicates any immediate sale.

Then there is Rodrygo

Rodrygo only enters the picture if both alternatives fail. Despite the speculation, the Real Madrid camp remains calm.

The club have not encouraged any interest in the Brazilian forward, nor have they placed him on the market.

Rodrygo, for his part, is fully focused on re-establishing his value under new manager Xabi Alonso for the 2025/26 season. The 24-year-old wants to fight for his place rather than seek an exit.

Still, with the transfer market unpredictable and Liverpool flush with funds following the upcoming sale of Darwin Núnez, anything can happen.

The Reds are expected to have no trouble meeting Real Madrid’s asking price, should they genuinely pursue Rodrygo.

But that price is non-negotiable – €90 million. Unless such an offer is made, Los Blancos are not even entertaining discussions.

PSG interested too

There is also interest from PSG, who view Rodrygo as a potential replacement should Barcola leave.

Yet again, Real Madrid’s stance remains unchanged: the player is not for sale unless a club comes in with a compelling nine-figure offer.

In reality, Liverpool’s interest is more precautionary than proactive. Rodrygo is not a priority target, and Real Madrid are not in the business of parting ways with players who still have a significant role to play under Alonso.

Unless an extraordinary offer arrives, Madridistas can rest assured: Rodrygo’s future remains firmly in white.
