Illan Meslier (26) has left Premier League club Leeds United upon the expiry of his contract. The former FC Lorient shotstopper is now a free agent. 

Meslier joined Leeds back in 2020 for a fee of €6.5m. The France U21 international made a positive start at Elland Road. He was a mainstay in the EFL Championship and then in the Premier League. In the latter, he went on to make 107 appearances. 

However, the Frenchman was guilty of several high-profile errors. Whilst he remained the No.1 in the Championship in the 2024/25 season, he would go on to lose his place last season. He did not play a single minute for Leeds United in what was his final season at the club. 

Leeds United confirmed the goalkeeper’s departure from the club on Wednesday. The former Lorient man is therefore on the search for a new club going into the 2026/27 campaign.
