Dani Olmo made a rare start for FC Barcelona on Sunday night against Getafe and played an important role as they went on to win the game 3-0 at Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The Spanish playmaker had fallen behind Fermin Lopez in the pecking order in recent weeks, but showcased his quality vs Getafe.
After setting Ferran Torres up for a goal with a backheel assist, Olmo went on to score a goal himself later on in the game.
Speaking to the media after the match, Olmo admitted he was happy to be playing and getting minutes, and that it would be the key for him to gain rhythm going forward.
“I’m happy to keep getting minutes, it’s what I need to get into the rhythm I need to be able to help the team. So I’m happy with this as well,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Regarding the team’s performance against a tricky opponent like Getafe, he added: “We have to maintain this momentum and this good play, and we’re confident. We have to keep this up, because it was important to get the three points today.”
As for playing at Estadi Johan Cruyff, Olmo insisted that he was happy to step out on the pitch there but was eagerly looking forward to making his debut at Spotify Camp Nou.
“I like it, it’s a beautiful stadium, although I’m looking forward to playing at the Camp Nou, but it will come. The people within the club and we are eager to return. For me, it’s the first time I’ll play there.”
Another player who spoke to the media was Barcelona left-back Gerard Martin, who left Estadi Johan Cruyff to chants from the crowd after another impressive display in the absence of Alejandro Balde.
“A lot of pride, a lot of satisfaction to see that you are doing things well and that people are grateful for it. If I finally have the opportunities to play, I try to show that I am at my best,” said Martin, as quoted by MD.

Eric Garcia, who started the match at centre-back, ended up finishing on the left side of the defence after Martin’s substitution late on.
The Spaniard has proven himself capable of playing at centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfield, and is now being utilised at left-back as well.
“Only goalkeeper left for you to play,” joked the club’s official media during a chat with him after the game.
In response, Eric said (h/t SPORT): “I try to play for the team as much as possible in whatever position they ask me to, and in the end, the more we win, the better we do.”
Manager Hansi Flick also praised the defender and did not rule out the possibility of using him at left-back more often going forward.
Meanwhile, Eric also had a message for his teammate Ferran Torres, who won the MVP award for his brace, saying:
“Enjoy this moment as much as we do.”
