Flamengo and Lucas Paquetá could face a decisive day in talks with West Ham over his return to Brazil. According to Globo.com, a meeting on Friday could bring the sides closer or even conclude an agreement, with the timing of his release the key issue.

Flamengo and the player want an immediate switch, while the London club prefer he stays until the end of the English league season to aid their relegation fight.

Flamengo would rather have him now, though they admit they could wait three months if that proves the only route. Securing Paquetá remains the priority, and his determination to leave is viewed as their main leverage.

The Rio side expect Paquetá to intensify his push to exit and resolve matters quickly. The academy graduate does not plan to play again until there is a resolution, and he is currently recovering from injury.

There is confidence in a positive outcome, with indications that West Ham are sounding out replacements.

The clubs have a financial understanding, set at 35 million euros fixed plus 5 million in bonuses. Flamengo had initially offered 33 million euros plus 5 million in add-ons, then increased.
