Real Madrid were handed two major concerns over the weekend as both Kylian Mbappe and Franco Mastantuono were released from their respective national team camps due to injury scares.

Mbappe had suffered a relapse of the ankle injury that he had sustained against Villarreal before the international break and was released by France as a result after playing 80+ minutes against Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Mastantuono’s release came due to muscle strain, with the teenage prodigy not even featuring for Argentina during the break.

Mastantuono cleared for Getafe clash

As already confirmed, Mbappe has no injury and will be available to face Getafe later this Sunday in La Liga.

Now, according to journalist Damian Casol, Mastantuono has also cleared his medicals at Real Madrid following his return from Argentina.

As such, the 18-year-old sensation will be fit and available to face Getafe at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Sunday night, despite having been forced to cut short his international assignment due to a hamstring strain.

Mastantuono even trained with the rest of the squad today at Valdebebas, along with Ferland Mendy, who made a return after almost six months out injured.

The final call over the youngster’s involvement, however, will rest with manager Xabi Alonso, who will decide whether to use Mastantuono against Getafe or rest him.

Since arriving from River Plate in the summer, the Argentine prodigy has established himself as the preferred starter for Alonso on the right wing, ahead of Brahim Diaz.

So far in his debut campaign at Real Madrid, Mastantuono has scored and assisted one goal apiece from nine matches in all competitions. He will have an opportunity to add to that tally against Getafe, should Alonso decide to use him.
