Sunderland will head to Leeds United on Tuesday without six players after a fresh spate of injuries.

They visit Bournemouth first this weekend. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Nordi Mukiele and January addition Jocelin Ta Bi were forced off during the 3-1 loss at Fulham, with fresh concerns emerging for Brian Brobbey and Romaine Mundle around full-time.

Assessments continue, but Mundle may face a difficult repeat issue and a spell out. Ta Bi could be in a similar position with a different problem and might need surgery, potentially weeks or months. Mukiele and Brobbey are seen as shorter term, around two to four weeks.

Even at two weeks, Mukiele and Brobbey will miss the trip to Elland Road, alongside longer-term absentees Mundle and Ta Bi.

Full-backs Dennis Cirkin and Reinildo Mandava are also set to miss Leeds. Cirkin had a minor issue before Fulham, Mandava has a knee injury. Both are improving, with a timeline of around 10 days, and captain Granit Xhaka is back available.

Mukiele has played the second-most outfield minutes since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain, with one goal and three assists in 25 games. Brobbey leads scoring with five in 22.

Sunderland have lost their last three league games and slipped into the bottom half, but remain clear of danger after an excellent first half. Perspective remains the message before Bournemouth and Leeds, with setbacks framed as part of a young squad’s process.
