The Ghanaian full-back underwent knee surgery after his injury against Como in Serie A
Tariq Lamptey / Fiorentina
Tariq Lamptey suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the match against Como on September 21. After successful surgery, the Fiorentina right-back will be sidelined for several months.
The new defender for the Viola will not return to action for several months. Tariq Lamptey, who joined Fiorentina this summer from Brighton, barely had time to settle in. In his very first start in the purple shirt, against Como, he was forced off the pitch after just 22 minutes due to a left knee injury.
Medical tests carried out in Rome the day after the match confirmed an isolated rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. In an official statement, ACF Fiorentina announced that the medical staff performed a diagnostic arthroscopy, followed by a complete reconstruction of Tariq Lamptey's ligament.
The club did not specify the exact length of his absence, but estimates suggest he will be out for seven months. Lamptey will return to Florence in the coming hours to begin his rehabilitation program. This injury also rules Lamptey out of Ghana's upcoming international fixtures, including the October training camp for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
