According to Tribuna Deportiva, Valencia have agreed a deal with Real Sociedad to sign Umar Sadiq, the striker set to join Carlos Corberán’s side to bolster a forward line the coach has been eager to strengthen. The agreement is for around three million euros plus add-ons, potentially rising to four.

Valencia negotiated for weeks last summer but backed away. With the side now in the relegation places, the club returned to Sadiq in this window.

The striker intends to travel to Valencia today and link up as soon as possible, with a view to being available for Saturday’s league game against Elche at Mestalla at 21:00. He said goodbye to Real Sociedad team-mates and staff on Wednesday and a farewell photo was posted.

Sadiq had been the preferred option up front even before the window opened, but the push only came after the defeat to Celta de Vigo. Corberán has long requested attacking reinforcements and pressed for Sadiq, without considering other alternatives.

The player continued to prioritise Valencia after the summer collapse, which proved decisive. He had already applied pressure on Real Sociedad to make the move and maintained that stance in early January.

Corberán’s conviction stems from Sadiq’s impact in his first spell at Mestalla rather than his recent form in San Sebastián. The Nigerian arrived on loan last January and scored five important goals in the team’s second-half resurgence in 2024/25.
