Valencia are pushing to bring in Umar Sadiq, a move Carlos Corberán hoped to have sealed before facing Celta Vigo, after a failed pursuit last summer. Radio Marca reports that an agreement with Real Sociedad is advanced.

Valencia have stepped up their approach in recent hours, leaving the transfer well on track, though it is not yet closed. Real Sociedad are holding firm as they seek the best financial return.

Corberán has pressed the club to invest in attack, making Sadiq his priority and shelving other alternatives. Sadiq is also pushing for a return to Mestalla, which has helped progress.

New Real Sociedad head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo is not opposed to a swift exit as he reshapes his squad. Sadiq has barely featured this season and did not play against Atlético Madrid in the coach’s first match.

Defeat to Celta has increased the urgency for a centre-forward, with Valencia already in the relegation zone. The club have accelerated talks and hope to tie up final details in the coming hours.

So far, Hugo Duro and Lucas Beltrán have shared the number nine role, although the Argentine is not a natural centre-forward and Duro has scored six. If Sadiq arrives, he would do so without a goal this season, but the staff believe he can reprise last winter’s loan form at Mestalla, when he scored five in the league.
