Ramón Sosa levelled with a crisp low strike from outside the area (24.). Leão Azul then went close soon after the restart when Marcelinho hit the bar, before Carlos Miguel saved from Patrick.

VAR later upgraded Zé Ricardo's punishment and the midfielder was sent off (74.). Verdão pushed with the extra man.

Palmeiras thought they had snatched it, but a finish in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time was ruled out after a VAR review. Seven minutes of added time had been indicated and the visitors forced a flurry of late corners.

Verdão controlled possession at 67.2% and racked up 17 corners. Leão Azul made 37 clearances and won 81.2% of tackles.

Next, Leão Azul host Bahia in the Copa do Brasil. Verdão visit Jacuipense in the same competition.
