According to the latest media reports, FC Bayern are serious in their pursuit of Givairo Read. The right-back from Feyenoord Rotterdam has become the record champions‘ preferred solution for the summer of 2026.

FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their personnel planning – and one name is currently particularly hotly debated in Munich: Givairo Read. The first reports that Bayern were keeping a close eye on the young Dutchman emerged as early as the end of October. Now the development appears to be gathering pace.

As Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg reports, the German record champions are going full throttle in the transfer poker, with Munich already in „advanced talks“ with the 19-year-old’s camp. No agreement has yet been reached, but the trend is clear: Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are working hard on a signing. Those responsible are convinced that they have found a highly talented player in Read who can stabilize the right side in the long term.

Why Read is so interesting for Bayern

Read is one of the most exciting talents in Dutch soccer. At just 19, he is already a regular at Feyenoord – a club that is traditionally strong in training young players and regularly loses top talent to top European clubs. His dynamic style of play, good timing in the tackle and strong athleticism make him a modern full-back who can be both defensively reliable and offensively variable.

The right-back position has been a sensitive issue for FC Bayern for years. The Bavarians lack a player who can fill this role at the highest level in the long term. Read is said to have this profile – which is why he is considered an absolute dream candidate internally.

„You can see that Bayern are already very active on the transfer market and are already working on their preferred candidates. They will make adjustments in the summer,“ emphasizes Plettenberg.

However, the youngster will not come cheap. Read is still tied to Feyenoord until 2029 and his current market value is estimated at around 20 million euros. As several Premier League clubs are also said to be interested in the Dutch U21 international, the price could rise further. English clubs in particular have the right-back on their radar – and are known to be willing to invest large sums of money.

Nevertheless, Bayern appear to be in a very good position in the race at the moment. Talks are ongoing, interest is intense and Munich are acting early to assert themselves against international competition.
