Arthur Masuaku says he is unsure about his Sunderland future as he prepares to report to the club for pre-season later this month.
He told Sports News Africa: "Honestly, I don't know. At the end of the month I will return to training at my club, I will play and regarding the rest of my career my agent will handle it. For now I'm going back to my club."
The left-sided defender signed last summer and spent six months on Wearside before joining Lens on loan in January. He had arrived as part of the post-promotion recruitment, then left seeking regular football.
Masuaku carries significant pedigree, having played in the Premier League, European competition and for his country. His long-term status remains unresolved ahead of the new campaign.
The Black Cats are preparing for a season in the Premier League and Europa League. Granit Xhaka’s future is now settled and Eliezer Mayenda has completed a move to Rennes, with focus now on new arrivals and potential departures as Régis Le Bris' squad evolves.
