Arthur Masuaku says he is unsure about his Sunderland future as the club reshapes its squad for the new campaign. The left-sided defender spent the first half of last season on Wearside before a January loan to Lens.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” he said, speaking to Sports News Africa. “At the end of the month I will return to training at my club, I will play and regarding the rest of my career my agent will handle it. For now I’m going back to my club.”

He joined Sunderland last summer following promotion, arriving with Premier League, European and international experience.

His situation is one of several to resolve as Sunderland prepare for a campaign that will include Premier League and Europa League football.

There has already been movement, with Granit Xhaka’s future now settled and Eliezer Mayenda completing a move to Rennes. Attention has shifted to further arrivals and possible exits under Régis Le Bris.
