Mané Garrincha has become a happy hunting ground for Flamengo. Two of their three Supercopa crowns came in Brasília, and Sunday’s 2026 final against Corinthians at 16:00 could bring their first trophy of the year and their 75th game there.

According to Globo.com, Flamengo have featured in seven of the nine editions since 1990, missing only 1990 and 2024. They lost the 1991, 2022 and 2023 finals to Corinthians, Atlético-MG and Palmeiras. At Mané Garrincha they have 41 wins, 24 draws and nine defeats from 74 games.

Highlights in Brasília span triumph and drama. In August 2013, goalkeeper Lauro headed in for Portuguesa in the final play to deny Flamengo. On 21 August 2016, Diego Ribas debuted with a goal in a 2-1 win over Grêmio.

In June 2018, a 2-0 win over Fluminense featured Lucas Paquetá, now back after seven years in Europe, and Vinicius Jr, whose tricks angered Abel Braga. In 2019, Flamengo thrashed Vasco 4-1, Bruno Henrique scored twice and Diego Alves saved two penalties.

The Supercopa returned after 27 years on 16 February 2020, Flamengo beat Athletico-PR 3-0 with Bruno Henrique, Gabigol and Arrascaeta on target. On 11 April 2021, they edged Palmeiras on penalties after a 2-2 draw behind closed doors.

In August 2021, Flamengo swept past Olimpia 5-1 to reach the Libertadores semi-finals, then lost the final to Palmeiras. Last season they reclaimed the Supercopa by beating Botafogo 3-1 in Belém, and a big crowd is expected on Sunday.
