Coritiba confirm loan signing of Santos right-back JP Chermont | OneFootball

Coritiba have confirmed the loan signing of 20-year-old right-back JP Chermont from Santos, with the deal running until the end of the year.

According to Globo.com, the move addresses an immediate need on the flank, with only Tinga and teenager Felipe Guimarães available, while giving the youngster the minutes to aid his development.

The agreement includes no option to buy and contains a clause that obliges Coritiba to release the player immediately if a concrete offer arrives from Europe. In return, Coritiba secured 20% of any future sale completed by Santos.

Santos recently held talks with Ajax, who indicated a €4 million bid, around R$ 24.8 million. The Brazilian club insisted on at least €6 million, about R$ 37.2 million, which stalled discussions and cleared the way for the loan.

Chermont now aims to rediscover the form that made him a starter for much of the 2024 Série B. He lost ground last year and briefly returned to the academy, then began 2026 with Santos in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.

This takes Coritiba to 14 signings for 2026, adding to arrivals Tinga, Felipe Jonatan, Thiago Santos, Ararat, Fernando Sobral, Willian Oliveira, Gustavo, Breno Lopes, Enzo Vagner, Fabinho, Keno, Lavega and Pedro Rocha.
