Corinthians lost 3-1 to Botafogo on Sunday at Estádio Nilton Santos in the 16th round, slipping back into the relegation zone. Supporters reacted with harsh player ratings in a post-match poll.

According to Meu Timao, midfielder Rodrigo Garro, who scored for Corinthians, was the only starter to receive a passable average, 5.8 from 1,150 votes, and was named player of the match.

Among the rest of the XI, Gustavo Henrique took 3.1 and Matheus Bidu 2.9. Raniele averaged 2.7, André Carrillo 2.6, with Breno Bidon and Jesse Lingard on 2.4, the latter assisting Garro. Right-back Matheuzinho was marked at 2.1.

Goalkeeper Hugo Souza was rated 1.3, with part of the fanbase citing his failure to dive for Arthur Cabral’s finishes on the first and second goals. The lowest mark went to Yuri Alberto, 0.7.

The bench fared little better, as Kaio César led the substitutes with 4.2. Dieguinho, Allan, André Luiz and Pedro Raul were graded between 2.4 and 1.7.

Head coach Fernando Diniz was given 2.0. Referee Felipe Fernandes de Lima scored 1.4 after disallowing a Yuri Alberto goal because Rodrigo Garro’s corner was taken outside the quarter-circle.

The defeat dropped Corinthians two places to 17th on 18 points, behind Santos on goals scored, 21 to 12, despite the same points and a goal difference of minus four. They visit Peñarol on Thursday at 21:30 at Estadio Campeón del Siglo in Group E of the Libertadores.
