Fulham have appointed Álvaro Arbeloa on a three-year deal, a significant move among Leeds United’s Premier League rivals.
The announcement follows Marco Silva’s exit at the end of his contract to take charge of Benfica, and Harry Wilson’s departure ahead of a free transfer to Leeds, where he has agreed terms and is expected to be unveiled imminently.
Fulham director of football Tony Khan had hoped Wilson would wait to learn Silva’s successor before committing, but the Wales international had already made up his mind.
Fulham confirmed Arbeloa’s arrival late on Tuesday. The 43-year-old’s contract runs to the summer of 2029 and this is his second permanent job after a five-month stint at Real Madrid.
His coaching path included work with Madrid’s youth sides before stepping up to the senior team last season.
Arbeloa now has pre-season before a trip to Elland Road on December 19. Leeds visit Craven Cottage on February 27.
