Fulham have appointed Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach, confirming the move on Tuesday night. The club said in a statement that the 43-year-old has agreed a three-year contract, tying him to Craven Cottage until summer 2029.
The London club face major change after Marco Silva and Harry Wilson departed following the expiration of their contracts. Silva has taken charge of Benfica, while Wilson has agreed terms on a free transfer to Leeds and is expected to be unveiled imminently. Director of football Tony Khan had hoped Wilson would wait for the new appointment, but the winger appeared to have already made up his mind.
Arbeloa, previously Real Madrid boss, had been tipped to succeed Silva for weeks. This is his second permanent job after a five-month spell at the Bernabeu.
Fulham outlined a coaching path that began with Real Madrid’s youth teams, followed by a stint in charge of the senior side last season.
Arbeloa will have time to impose his ideas before Fulham visit Elland Road on December 19. The reverse fixture at Craven Cottage is pencilled in for February 27.
