Fulham confirm Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach amid Harry Wilson’s imminent Leeds switch | OneFootball

Fulham have appointed Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach, while former Cottagers winger Harry Wilson has agreed terms on a free transfer to Elland Road and is expected to be unveiled imminently.

The club said in a statement that the 43-year-old has agreed a three-year contract to the summer of 2029.

Fulham confirmed the late Tuesday appointment after weeks of links. The former Real Madrid boss arrives following a five-month spell at the Bernabeu, having previously worked with their youth teams. It is only his second permanent role.

Marco Silva and Wilson departed at the end of their contracts. Silva has taken charge of Benfica. Fulham director of football Tony Khan had hoped Wilson would wait to see the new head coach, but the winger had already committed to Leeds.

Arbeloa called the job an honour, voiced gratitude to Mr Khan and Tony Khan, and is eager to experience the Craven Cottage atmosphere. He also wants to begin pre-season with his players next week.

He will have time to imprint his style before visiting Elland Road on December 19. The return at Craven Cottage is pencilled in for February 27.
