Leeds United's Premier League rivals Fulham have appointed Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach. The club said in a statement that he has signed a three-year deal through to summer 2029.
The change follows Marco Silva's exit at the end of his contract, with the Portuguese now in charge of Benfica. Winger Harry Wilson also left as his deal expired, and has agreed terms on a free move to Leeds, with confirmation expected imminently.
Arbeloa, 43, had been tipped for weeks to succeed Silva. It is only his second permanent job after a five-month spell at the Bernabeu last season. He previously coached Real Madrid's youth sides before taking charge of the senior team.
Arbeloa will have time to imprint his approach before Fulham visit Elland Road on December 19. The reverse fixture at Craven Cottage is pencilled in for February 27.
A number of Leeds' top-flight rivals are changing managers this summer, with Fulham among the most active.
