Marseille owner Frank McCourt confirmed plans to appoint a new club president in the near future, RMC Sport reports, telling supporter group representatives the change is the logical next step for governance. He offered no timeline and did not name any candidate.

While Pablo Longoria has been sidelined from sporting matters, McCourt said his continued presence remains strategically important. Longoria’s seat on the LFP board and within European institutions keeps OM represented at league level.

The Spaniard is reportedly unhappy with the new arrangement and is considering leaving the club altogether.

Medhi Benatia also indicated uncertainty over his position beyond the summer, adding he has stayed largely to support McCourt and the club through a turbulent period.

The planned appointment is aimed at stabilising Marseille’s governance, with timescales unclear as key figures assess their futures.
