Wolves have confirmed Brazilian midfielder Andre has signed a new four-year contract despite relegation.

Chairman Nathan Shi said talks with Andre and his representatives had been ongoing for months and that the 24-year-old wanted to be part of the club’s future. He set out the belief in the project and the aim of winning promotion back to the Premier League as soon as possible, calling the commitment a statement of intent that underlines long-term ambition and signals to others that Wolves are building a squad to return.

Signed from Fluminense in 2024 for £18.5m, Andre has made 74 appearances in all competitions. He has been capped eight times by Brazil while at Wolves and scored a memorable winner against Liverpool in March.

Relegation was confirmed last month and a number of high-profile exits were expected this summer. Joao Gomes looks certain to leave, and many supporters thought Andre would depart.

The contract runs to 2030 and includes the option of a further year.
