Ilia Gruev: It’s always a pleasure to play for my country | OneFootball

First team action is currently on hold for Leeds United, whilst a number of players represent their nations.

Ilia Gruev has 25 caps for Bulgaria and our midfielder is now looking to add two more to that tally, whilst also hoping for positive performances and results from his side.

Speaking to leedsunited.com prior to representing his national side, Gruev gave his thoughts on his upcoming opponents.

“It's always a pleasure to play for my home country,” the 25-year-old began, as he prepares for the upcoming fixtures.

"It means a lot to me and it will always mean a lot to me. It makes me proud to play for my country.

“Unfortunately, at the moment we have bad results in a tough period, but we want to grow and get better.

“I expect some really tough games, one at home, one away. So we want to focus on our game and improve our game.

“Of course, we want to have better results than the last time. And this is the goal for these two games, to see a better side of us.”
