In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are ready to launch a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It has been stated that Los Blancos are prepared to make a €60m move to land the English talent next year.

Wharton’s Decent Run Of Form In The Premier League

Wharton enjoyed a decent run of form at the London club in the previous campaign when he put in a handful of solid displays for them at the centre of the park. The 21-year-old featured in 27 matches for the Eagles last season, picking up two assists on all fronts.

The English talent offered decent protection for his teammates at the back as he made 34 tackles, 11 blocks, 20 interceptions and 27 clearances in the Premier League. He even distributed possession relatively well from midfield after completing 75.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

Wharton’s current contract at Selhurst Park will expire in the summer of 2029. Therefore, Los Blancos will have to launch a convincing offer if they want to stand a chance of recruiting him next year.

Will Wharton Be A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso?

Wharton loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English talent can even engineer the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to get him on board next year.

Wharton would bring more quality and depth to Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

At 21, the future looks quite promising for Wharton as long as he continues to improve with each year. He might even help the Madrid giants compete for some major silverware over the next decade. With all things considered, Wharton would be a great choice for Real Madrid to pursue this January or at the end of this season.
