Sevilla gain upper hand over OGC Nice in race to sign Elye Wahi

OGC Nice’s attempts to sign Elye Wahi (22) have been dealt a blow with Sevilla entering the race to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt forward, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Wahi is out of favour at Frankfurt and is looking to get his career back on track. Following his struggles at Olympique de Marseille, he joined the Bundesliga club last summer, but has struggled for goals while in Germany.

A January departure is on the cards. He is a target for Nice and for Franck Haise, who knows the Frenchman from his time at RC Lens. The club had been optimistic about securing a loan deal for Wahi, and whilst they are still trying to pull off a deal, their attempts have been dealt a blow.

That blow comes in the form of Sevilla, who have submitted a loan offer, which, unlike Nice’s, does include a buy option. That gives the La Liga side the upper hand.
