AC Milan and Lazio 'to explore' Tomori and Tavares swap, Arsenal set for 40% cut | OneFootball

Il Messaggero reports that AC Milan and Lazio are exploring a swap involving Fikayo Tomori and Nuno Tavares, a deal that could suit both clubs before the window closes.

Relations are warm after Mario Gila’s €30 million move to the Rossoneri last month, with youngster Lorenzo Calvani following. Lazio need a centre-back, and Tomori has been placed on the market by Milan head coach Ruben Amorim, who is said to have omitted him from his plans alongside Christopher Nkunku and Youssouf Fofana.

Tavares has seemingly lost his starting spot to new signing Alfonso Pedraza. Lazio plan to sell either the Portuguese full-back or Luca Pellegrini, with Claudio Lotito valuing Tavares at €20 million. Arsenal would receive 40% of any fee due to a sell-on clause.

The report describes a complicated operation, but Lazio believe Milan’s interest in Tavares gives them a chance to land Tomori, whose contract expires next year.

The pair’s gross pay is broadly similar, around €4.5 million. Tomori nets €3.5 million per year under the Growth Decree that applied when he joined from Chelsea in January 2021. Tavares earns €2.5 million net, with that rule abolished before his 2024 arrival.
