Aston Villa have held talks over a move for West Ham right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Unai Emery prioritises the position. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 28-year-old is on a list of targets this summer.
A deal for Atletico Madrid left-back Matteo Ruggeri is close, the Italian lined up to replace Lucas Digne after his switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
Emery has faced frustration in finding cover and competition for Matty Cash. Villa tried to land Flamengo’s Emerson Royal earlier in the window but could not complete a deal, while Kosta Nedeljkovic is likely to head out on loan.
Wan-Bissaka is viewed as a serious option, with the Hammers thought to value the DR Congo international at about £25 million. He has five years left on the contract he signed when joining from Manchester United for £15 million two years ago.
Villa’s squad has already undergone significant change and further movement is expected before the deadline. Talks continue with Bayern Munich over midfielder Joao Palhina. Leon Bailey’s switch to Hull City now appears off after the Premier League newcomers lost patience, and the winger has one year left on his deal amid interest from Saudi Arabia.
