Juventus’ delay in completing a move for Nicolás Tagliafico could cost them, as Atletico Madrid are closing in on hijacking their move for the Lyon star.

Juve have an agreement in place with the defender on personal terms, and he is keen to join them before the transfer window closes today. However, Juventus only made their move for Tagliafico because Atalanta want to sign Juan Cabal, who is viewed as the replacement for the Colombian.

So far, La Dea have not completed their move for the Bianconeri star, meaning Juventus have also been unable to finalise their move for Tagliafico. The delay could now see them miss out on signing the Argentine defender.

Atletico Madrid enter race

According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid have made contact to add Tagliafico to their squad and are advancing in talks to make the move happen.

The Spanish club only firmed up their interest in the defender today, but they could now secure his signature because Juventus are still waiting for Atalanta to complete their move for Cabal.

That development has left the Bianconeri in a difficult position. They have already agreed personal terms with Tagliafico, and the defender wants to move to Turin, but Juventus cannot complete the transfer until they have resolved Cabal’s situation.

Juventus face deadline pressure

It is a frustrating situation for the Bianconeri, who need to act quickly if they want to prevent Atletico from taking advantage of their delay. The Spanish club have entered the race at a crucial moment and could now benefit from Juventus’ inability to complete the necessary steps.

Juventus have wanted to offload Cabal for a long time, and his departure remains important because they need to create space for Tagliafico in their squad. Atalanta’s interest appeared to provide the solution, but the move has not yet been completed.
