Atlético Madrid are trying to edge out Juventus to sign Lyon full-back Nicolás Tagliafico. According to Fabrizio Romano, both clubs are competing for the 34-year-old.

Tagliafico has already agreed to join the Turin club, subject to them finalising Juan Cabal’s move to Atalanta. He is also said to have given the green light to join Atlético.

Lyon must now reach an agreement with one of the suitors to complete a deal, with Tagliafico under contract until June 2027.

The Argentine arrived from Ajax four years ago and has made 134 appearances, scoring nine and providing 13 assists in all competitions. He played 30 times last season, finishing with three assists.

Capped 83 times by Argentina, he was a key figure in their 2022 World Cup triumph and was selected by Lionel Scaloni for this summer’s World Cup.
