A symbolic keepsake from historic night as Barca reopen their renovated home with 4-0 win over Athletic Club

Barcelona's midfielder marks milestone return to the Camp Nou with symbolic keepsake
Barcelona marked their emotional return to the Spotify Camp Nou in the best possible way sweeping aside Athletic Club 4-0 in festive atmosphere that blended nostalgia, celebration and sense of rebirth after two and half year in Montjuic.
But amid the goals and the celebrations, it was Marc Casado who walked away with the night’s most meaningful souvenir (the match ball).
According to Mundo Deportivo, Casado quietly picked up the ball after the final whistle, not as goalscorer or man of the match but as proud homegrown player wanting to hold onto a piece of history.
It was the first match ball of the "new" Camp Nou, the ball used in Barcelona’s comeback fixture after the 2025 renovation.
Casado, a La Masia graduate who climbed through Barça’s youth ranks before joining the first team ahead of the 2024 /25 season, didn’t start the match.
His spot in the lineup went to Eric Garcia but he featured in the final stages and made sure he didn’t leave empty handed.
