Porto have stepped up Clássico preparations at Olival, and Francesco Farioli could recover three important players for Sunday at the Dragão. According to Glorioso 1904, all three are edging towards contention.
Victor Froholdt is the leading candidate to return against Benfica. The Danish midfielder missed the last game, against Casa Pia, while completing concussion recovery from the Moreirense match. He faced Benfica three times last season, with one win and two draws, and opened the scoring in the most recent meeting at the Luz.
Oskar Pietuszewski is also pushing for a comeback. The Polish winger completed extra work at Olival on Monday and is nearing fitness after injury. He has already scored against Benfica, beating Otamendi with a moment of inspiration at the Luz that hushed the stands.
Samu’s involvement is more complicated, though still possible. The Spanish forward is progressing well from a knee injury and played in a training match against Académica de Coimbra, coming on for the final 15 minutes and scoring the Porto winner.
In 2024/25 he scored in both meetings with Benfica, although Porto lost each 1-4. Farioli could therefore regain three timely options for the Clássico, all with a record of scoring against the Eagles.
