Blues have overseen a major squad overhaul since the beginning of the window
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Despite already acquiring the services of five new signings as part of a major squad overhaul, Birmingham City have been urged to continue their transfer activity in the final days of the winter window, with two areas specifically being pinpointed.
Blues have been on the periphery of the play-off places for a large proportion of January 2026, and have coupled their on-pitch form with a fairly-sized transformation of Chris Davies' squad at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park after an inconsistent return to the Championship.
Despite finishing 19 points clear of Wrexham at the top of League One last term, it is currently the Red Dragons who Birmingham are aiming to catch in the season's final weeks, as Phil Parkinson's side occupy the final play-off place heading into the last weekend of the month.
Much had been made of the West Midlands side's transfer activity in the summer, as plenty of the deals conducted by Davies, director of football Craig Gardner and Knighthead Capital Management's frontman, Tom Wagner, were eye-catching to say the least.
14 players were added to a squad that many had previously viewed as one capable of being competent - at the very least - in the second tier after accumulating an all-time EFL high of 111 points last season.
However, it's fair to say that whilst a handful of those new additions have been particularly shrewd, the jury remains out on others in the viewpoint of Bluenoses.
As such, Football League World exclusively revealed at the beginning of the window that as many as eight players could see departures sanctioned in order to facilitate numerous incomings.
That exact number have departed thus far, whilst exit talk continues to surround Icelandic international, Willum Willumsson, amid interest from NEC Nijmegen.
In terms of incomings, all of Kai Wagner, Jhon Solis, Ibrahim Osman, August Priske and Carlos Vicente have already arrived as Davies looked to address a handful of 'problem positions'.
However, Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit, Jason Moore, believes there is at least one other area of the Birmingham squad which needs further depth added to it between now and the deadline of 7PM on February 2nd.

The main area of concern for Moore is Blues' lack of depth at the heart of defence, with Christoph Klarer, Jack Robinson - who is currently injured - and Phil Neumann the only current senior options at Davies' disposal.
Such a predicament comes after Brighton and Hove Albion opted to recall Eiran Cashin, before the Irish defender was subsequently loaned out to Blackburn Rovers for the remainder of the season.
Furthermore, Neumann has also become the subject of shock exit talk amid links to Sassuolo, Hellas Verona and VfL Wolfsburg, but Birmingham have been urged to only add to this particular department, as well as potentially looking to bolster their options in the 'number 10' role in Davies' 4-2-3-1 system.
"As good as the transfer window's been so far, I hope it's not the end for us," Moore told FLW.
"We desperately need to get another centre-back. Left-footed, right-footed, whatever it is, you need to replace Eiran Cashin.
"We've only got three (senior) centre-backs currently, and one of them's injured, so we have two fit centre-backs. We definitely need a centre-back," he added.
"Maybe someone that can play centre-back and left-back as Alex Cochrane's out for most of the season now as well, so that's a priority.
"I think we need to get a '10', because Marvin Ducksch isn't 'it'," he added. "We don't know where Jay Stansfield's best position is, and Willum Willumsson, quite frankly, isn't 'it'.
"If you get those two (positions sorted), I don't think our window could have gone any better. But, they're the two," Moore stated.
"I could live without the '10' and have Ducksch or Stansfield there. But, a centre-back is 100 percent a MUST.
"They have to do that. If we don't do that after letting Cashin go back, then we are a very silly football club, as good as the window's been."

It has been well-documented that Birmingham have been short on numbers in their defence throughout the season due to injuries, suspensions and international call-ups.
However, the major area of concern is, undoubtedly, centre-back, whilst Davies recently revealed that another left-back to compete with Wagner may be sourced due to concerns over Cochrane and Lee Buchanan.
Despite the club's aforementioned activity, not many defenders have been linked with a move to St. Andrew's, albeit such developments don't mean that the hierarchy are not working behind-the-scenes to address such problems.
