Blackburn Rovers have been offered the opportunity to sign Chelsea wonderkid Kendry Paez on loan this deadline day

Blackburn Rovers have had one of the quietest transfer windows of any Championship side this summer, but with the deadline fast approaching, the Lancashire-based outfit has been offered the chance to sign a young star on loan from Chelsea.

According to Alan Nixon via Patreon, Blackburn have been offered the opportunity to sign Ecuadorian attacking-midfielder Kendry Paez on loan this summer, whilst Scottish giants Celtic also lurk.

Paez, 19, has no immediate future under Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to move him on before the deadline to continue his development elsewhere, as Blackburn have been offered the opportunity to take him to Ewood Park for the year.

Blackburn have had a typically quiet summer, with the continuous lack of investment from the Venky's ownership evident, with Moussa Baradji's loan move from Yverdon becoming permanent, whilst Jayden Fevrier and Sam Morsy have also put pen to paper on deals at the club.

Tony Mowbray's side look to tie up a deal for French youth international defender Gady Beyuku from Italian side Modena today, as Paez could be the next to follow him through the doors, in what could be a real coup for the club.

The 19-year-old agreed to join Chelsea whilst he was still just 16, with the Blues paying Independiente del Valle around £17.5 million for his services some three years ago, but only arrived in Europe once he turned 18.

Yet to make a senior first-team appearance for the West London outfit, Paez has spent time out on loan in France with Strasbourg and in Argentina with River Plate, but could now be set for a surprise move to the Championship.

Still just a teenager, Paez has ample experience of playing in numerous top-flight divisions, as well as amassing 27 caps for his national team already, with one of those coming at the recent World Cup in North America.

Capable of playing anywhere across the final third behind the main centre-forward, Paez would add some South American spark to Blackburn's forward line, and could be a huge coup for the club. The Ecuadorian playmaker has struggled in recent times, but still aged just 19, it wasn't long ago that he was being touted as one of world football's hottest young prodigies - which led to then-Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior labelling him as "ultra-talented" last year.

Nixon has also reported that Birmingham City's Patrick Roberts remains a target on deadline day, and the club could move for the winger if he were to become available.

There are no indications as yet whether Blackburn have taken up the opportunity to have Paez on loan for the year.

Whether or not he does make the move to Lancashire, head coach Mowbray will be keen to ensure his side has a strong finish to the window, as keeping hold of the likes of Ryan Alebiosu, Todd Cantwell, and Balasz Toth remains the priority.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland boss will have few intentions of weakening his side between now and the 11 pm deadline, as Paez could well only strengthen it.
