Flamengo assign No 30 shirt to Joaquín Freitas after sealing long-term deal | OneFootball

Flamengo have confirmed the signing of Joaquín Freitas, naming the Argentine forward their second addition of the window and handing him the No 30 shirt.

Michael, Pablo, Bruno Viana, Thuler and Adryan have previously worn No 30 for the first team.

Freitas has signed a contract running until 2031, tying the young forward to a long-term deal. He is widely viewed as one of Argentina’s standout young talents.

Born in San Fernando, he came through at Acassuso and made his senior debut in May 2023 aged 16. He moved to River Plate the following season and remained there until 2026, becoming one of the squad’s key figures.

Across his career he has made 64 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists. He earned a first Argentina call-up in June’s FIFA window, playing nine minutes in a 2-0 friendly win over Honduras.

Having been active for River Plate, his fitness is not a problem. Flamengo must still register him with the CBF’s Daily Bulletin, the BID.

As a result, Freitas is a doubt for Wednesday’s meeting with Mirassol, a rearranged round-four Brasileirão fixture. Kick-off is at 19:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
