According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, La Policía Local de Castellón will run the ‘Seguridad Integral en el Fútbol Profesional’ course from 13 to 17 April, a pioneering, top-level programme focused on planning, coordination and execution of safety operations at professional football matches.

The initiative responds to the growing complexity of these events and the need for an integrated, preventive and coordinated approach. It spans all phases, from pre-match planning to delivery and post-event management.

Subjects include coordination between police forces and institutions, roles of safety leads, management of supporter groups, prevention of violent behaviour and radicalisation, and the design and application of self-protection and emergency plans at sports venues.

A core pillar is practical analysis of real deployments at professional stadiums, giving participants first-hand insight into organisational models, decision-making and operational coordination for mass events. The aim is to embed a culture of anticipation, prevention and cooperation.

Speakers will include a Mossos d’Esquadra sub-inspector responsible for operations at FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol, a representative of the Policía Nacional, security heads from CD Castellón, Elche CF and Villarreal CF, the president of Aficiones Unidas, and experts from the municipal fire service and the Local Police. Councillor Antonio Ortolá said the course’s practical emphasis and content make it pioneering, adding that increasingly complex matches demand planning, coordination and experience, and that the initiative underlines a commitment to continual improvement and public safety.
