Leeds United could receive around £2.64m if former defender Charlie Cresswell completes a move to Rennes, courtesy of a sell-on clause.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 23-year-old is reportedly closing in on a switch from Toulouse, with a deal worth €25m (£21.4m) plus €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons understood to be near agreement.
Cresswell left Elland Road for Toulouse in July 2024 in a £3.8m move, signing a four-year contract after limited minutes under Daniel Farke.
He has since established himself as a regular, making 60 Ligue 1 appearances across two seasons and scoring six goals, attracting interest from the Premier League and Italy.
Leeds inserted a 15 percent sell-on clause on any future profit. On a £21.4m initial fee, Toulouse’s profit would be £17.6m, putting Leeds’ share at about £2.64m and lifting their total return to roughly £6.45m.
Rennes are seeking defensive reinforcements and are thought to have offered a lucrative salary. They finished sixth last season to secure a Europa League place, and there remains work to do before any move is finalised.
Leeds adopted a similar protection when selling Pascal Struijk to Brighton last month, a deal understood to total £20m, with a sell-on also included, the value of which is undisclosed.
