Chelsea have turned down Leeds United’s initial season-long loan proposal for Mykhailo Mudryk, though negotiations are continuing.
football.london reports that Leeds’ opening offer fell short of Chelsea’s expectations, but the Whites could return with improved terms.
Chelsea are willing to consider a loan to secure the winger more first-team football, with several clubs monitoring his situation. Mudryk is available again after anti-doping charges were lifted this summer, and no final decision on the 25-year-old’s destination had been reached at the time of writing.
The Ukraine international last played in the Premier League on 10 November 2024, a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. He joined from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for £89m.
Leeds have prioritised their defence, signing centre-backs Tarik Muharemovic and Nico Elvedi from Sassuolo and Borussia Monchengladbach for a combined £39m. They also broke their transfer record to bring in James Trafford from Manchester City for £40m.
In attack, only free agent Harry Wilson has arrived after leaving Fulham. Joel Piroe has moved to West Ham on loan, with a permanent switch to follow if the Hammers secure promotion back to the Championship.
Daniel Farke has said the attack has not been improved compared with last season and that Leeds are not yet ready for a long Premier League campaign, stressing the need for players who score and create. Leeds begin their league season at Nottingham Forest tomorrow afternoon.
